WiP Wednesday: More Master Knitter Swatches, of course.

I’m still here – and still plugging away!
I only have ONE swatch left to do!  ONE!  (And it’s one that happens to be giving me fits.  sigh.)

I redid my Entrelac swatch (about three times, actually) and I think this one is pretty good:

MK lvl3 Swatch#12

Here’s my finished Smocking Stitch swatch, which is much better:

MK lvl3 Swatch #9

And after several attempts, I have what I think is an acceptable swatch #16:

MK lvl3 Swatch #16
My first couple attempts were going to end up too big.  This swatch is one I have to do completely from a chart, where I design the chart.  But lace in worsted can end up pretty large once blocked, so I had to revise my chart several times.  It’s all good, though, because in the process I found a cool pattern that I want to design a sock with (after I’m done with the MK work, of course.)

This is the swatch giving me fits – the Bavarian/Austrian Traveling Stitches one:

Swatch #11 attempt

I’ve got tension issues galore going on.  Gutters in my purls, and loose purls after my knits.  The twisted stitches just accentuate the tension issues, too.  I put this one in time out while I concentrated on the other swatches instead.

I have my hat started as well!  I think I’m putting off the sweater for some reason.  Or the hat just wants to be knit first, perhaps. 🙂  I had an idea, and I just sort of started in, and now I think I have the whole thing mapped out. (I have to swatch a bit to get the crown of the hat exactly figured out, though).  The brim is started, and going well:

Anyway, I am really happy that the swatches are almost done.  Now, if I can just get that  Bavarian one to cooperate…
I’m happy with how the hat is going – I just hope I don’t screw it up!  Then it’s on to the sweater!!  And for written work I just have the one more report to write, and the 4 book/magazine reviews.  I may try to tackle those this week as well, or this weekend.

So, that’s what I have to show you this week!  Check out Tami’s Amis for more WiP Wednesday posts!

Your swatches are amazing, to me. I mostly crochet, but I can knit once in a while. 😉

  3. Candace says:

I had a jumper knit in the top pattern when I was about 5. I loved that jumper so much because of this great pattern

Wow! I can’t believe you are almost finished with your Level 3 swatches, Heather! It seems like you just got your Level 2 binder back. I have had Level 2 printed and ready to start for a couple weeks now but am already bogged down with the first swatches. Finishing seams has never been my favorite thing to do so I’m not surprised that I can’t even get going here. All your swatches are looking lovely, lovely, lovely!
